Business Internet (Business Internet) is built to a different service standard than typical home broadband. Speeds scale from 2Mbps up to 10Gbps depending on your plan - well beyond typical residential tiers, with a fixed static IP address rather than a shared or dynamic one, a 99.95% target network availability backed by 24/7 monitoring and DDoS protection. Residential plans are generally best-effort services without these guarantees, shared across a wider customer base at peak times, which is why businesses that depend on their connection typically move to a dedicated, business-grade service.

DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) protection helps safeguard internet-connected services from malicious traffic designed to overwhelm networks and disrupt operations.

Lumea IP ranges are protected by default when traffic transits through our upstream providers. For Lumea Internet services, customers using Lumea-managed IP addresses benefit from this protection automatically. If a customer uses their own IP address range and has contracted DDoS protection, Lumea can work with its upstream providers to extend protection to those ranges.

If a DDoS attack occurs, Lumea's upstream providers will determine the most appropriate mitigation response, which may include traffic scrubbing, filtering, or blackholing to minimise the impact of the attack.
