New South Wales’ largest wind farm has come online, with the first turbines producing power this week at Rye Park, near Yass, west of Sydney.

NSW's largest wind farm to power 215,000 homes and help to deliver the nation’s clean energy future
Executive General Manager of Lumea Paul Maguire said “The Rye Park Wind Farm, once completed, will be the biggest wind farm in New South Wales, with a maximum capacity of 396 megawatts (MW).
“This project is a significant step forward for electricity customers and the Federal Government’s vision for a clean energy future.”
Lumea has enabled grid connection for the project’s developer Tilt Renewables and the farm is expected to produce 1,188 gigawatt-hours (GWh) each year – enough to power 215,000 homes and offset 960,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.
“The journey towards a clean energy future is underway. The Rye Park Wind Farm has been registered to supply electricity to the market."

Tilt Renewables CEO Mr Geoff Dutaillis said, "Rye Park showcases the incredible potential of renewable energy to power communities and industries, while also fostering economic growth and job creation. It could not have been achieved without the support of key stakeholders including Lumea, Vestas, Zenviron and the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO)."
Rye Park Wind Farm, located on the edge of the NSW Southern Tablelands, is expected to completed in March, 2024.
